The First Step

The First Step

It was a cold night of March, 2013. Zak and I were sitting outside McDonald and were enjoying hot gossips with chill breeze. Among the laughs, Zak changed the tone and uttered in a low but firm voice ‘Lets go to Europe… Thirty days of non-stop entertainment… Two of us!!!’ The words became our dream since then.

Now in the January of 2014, I am sitting excited, overjoyed, and thrilled… writing this first ever blog. Both of us have purchased our tickets today for a lifetime experience in August, 2014. The very feel of have a ticket in our hands is itself very good to have. The trip we just thought of ten months ago is now being realized! Europe here we come…

The purpose of writing this blog is to introduce to new travellers with fictitious and self-imposed fears. Its our story, but its everybody story. Let me tell you if you have thought of moving out in the world, you have become traveller. Now behave like one, face the challenges, keep yourself motivated, and move on…step by step…ahead!

I am going to talk about few fear factors you might have, if you think of jumping into the vastness of the World.

Fear Factor 1 : Money

Money is first and foremost fear factor. One of two questions may arise: From where shall I gather enough money to make a good trip? or The money I have is required at more important places than travelling?

Well, the answer to first question is that if you can make a day to day living, you have enough money to go to any part of the world. Once we thought of the trip, we had no money then. It took us these ten months to collect dime by dime to make a purchase of ticket. Honestly, we are left with just few bucks now, but we still have time till August to collect some more dimes. Nothing extraordinary we did. We just kept ourselves motivated through discussions and talks and reading and browsing and thinking and what not and what not…and every day of motivation saved us dimes we could have spent just like that for nothing. And this trick is very much applicable. Set realistic goals for yourself, and you will achieve them.

The answer to second question is more interesting. Just calculate how much you earned and spent since you were able to earn. The most expensive of all was your education, which took so many years…and all you have are few papers known as certificates or degrees to show them to people that how much effort was put to grab them. Just like that travelling will give make you more literate and the proof will be your stamped passport pages and used boarding cards. You will gain what you thought of, and you will tell it to the world that you have the best of eduction!!!

Fear Factor 2 : The Family

You might be married and parenting kids like us, might be having low earning family like we have, might be having materialistic people around you who weigh everything in terms of brand of car or year or purchase of new LED TV or land like we do, might be surrounded by taunting fellows like we are. But there is nothing to worry. Just think if you die today, what will become of everybody else. They will surely survive, and will not be impacted much materialistically. I don’t ask you to die…just disappear from their lives for few days…and come back. I assure you things won’t change to negative side. Throw this fear out, and stop listening to everybody else except your heart.

Fear Factor 3 : The Job

Those of you who are doing some job, don’t worry to take few days leave from your desk. If your boss says no to your leave application, he probably is testing if you can accept slavery for few bucks. Tell him nicely but firmly, and don’t loose heart. Go, get yourself out in the World, and tell your boss that this blogger guy assures him that you will be more productive to the organization than before. Trust me!!!

Fear Factor 4 : Within

This is the worst fear. Fear of unknown. It generates from within. Remember, the dreams have realizations past fears. Whenever you fear of unknown, just remember that you are making yourself very weak person…and if you kept on with this, world will start to hate you pretty soon!!!

If you have any other fear, let us know, and we can counsel you. But I must tell you, travelling is life, and life is travelling. Don’t let life reach its destination before you sort out your dreams.

Happy travelling…
